Comets are small objects in the solar system which are composed of rock, ice, and various gases and have been described as “dirty snowballs.” When a comet passes the sun, it starts to warm and release gases. The tail of the comet, called a coma, mostly contains water and dust and provides us with a marvellous sight when a bright comet appears to us on earth (called an apparition).
Thousands of comets are known to astronomers but on average, only one comet per year is visible to us on earth and most are faint and difficult to see.
Very bright comets, called “great comets” are easily visible to us on earth and historically have been seen as harbingers of doom and bad omens.
It’s important to mention that in Western astrology, the planets, comets and stars are not said to be the cause of misfortunes on earth. The objects are said to reflect, in their celestial abode, the actions and emotions of humans on earth. The microcosm and the macrocosm.
The sight of a bright comet in the sky has been traditionally connected to wars, plagues and natural disasters (the word disaster comes from the Latin dis astrum which means bad star).
Historically comets were recorded through art and writing frequently, from the Babylonian, Hellenistic and Medieval ages. The objects were always seen as malefic, meaning they were said to bring misfortune. Modern astrologers mostly ignore comets or attempt to put a new-age spin on the objects. To do so is to ignore thousands of years of evidence that comets are indeed a reflection of ominous events for us here on earth.
Some events which occurred around the same time as comet sightings are the great Chicago fire of 1871, the black death, the death of Julius Caesar, and of course the battle of Hastings, when the famous Halley’s comet appeared in the sky. I connect this comet with the Kali Yuga or age of darkness.
In 2020 a comet became visible in the skies and its name was NEOWISE and it was the brightest comet to appear in the skies since Hale Bopp in 1997!
The battle of Hastings was a disaster for the Anglo-Saxon folk. Many of the ancient, Anglo-Saxon aristocratic bloodlines were extinguished through battle or dispatched with afterwards when the “Norman” William the conqueror claimed the throne, replacing these noble folk with foreigners.
Halley’s comet has appeared several times since 1066, the next apparition will occur on July 28 2061. Is this the year that Kalki, the last avatar will return to “rule with an iron rod” and destroy the evil in our world? Time will tell. This apparition of Halley’s comet will be bright and visible as it will be on the same side of the sun as earth.
I will be watching comet ZTF with interest as it will probably be visible in the skies around January and February 2023. This is the same time as Mars, the planet of warfare, turns direct and ends its retrograde motion. Mars retrograde is a time when war is plotted and planned, the direct motion can put those plans into action.
The comet ZTF has been moving in the Corona Borealis constellation which is in the Northern celestial hemisphere. In Welsh mythology this constellation is named Caer Arianrhod, the heavenly abode of lady Arianrhod. In her mythology, Arianrhod places a geis or curse on a boy named lleu (fair haired one) denying him the three aspects of masculinity – a name, arms and a wife. Eventually, lleu is able to break all of the curses. .
